About the Consultation

Consultations are offered in-person or online.
The clinic location is 84 Stirling Street, Alva, FK12 5EA.

Step 1. Understand if it’s right for you

You can read about what I treat, about me and my approach in the links below. You can also book a free discovery chat to get a better sense of me and my approach, which takes around 15 minutes. This is pitch free conversation where we can discuss your situation, how I can help and any questions you might have. There is no obligation or pressure to go forward.

Step 2. Pre-Consultation Preparation

Contact me if would like to book a consultation. I send an optional pre-consultation form which asks some introductory questions about your health, allergies, and current medications, so any prescription can be safely tailored. Alongside this I send information on forms of herbal medicine, how it is commonly taken, and pros and cons, so you can consider which options will suit you. Payment for the consultation is requested ahead of the appointment by bank transfer. My payment and cancellation policy is at the bottom of the page.

Step 3. First Consultation

A first consultation can be in-person or online and lasts 1 hour. In person consultations are held at 84 Stirling Street, Alva, FK12 5EA (in Alva’s High Street). It is an opportunity to have conversations about your health concerns and focus. We will walk through your primary concerns as well as the twelve body systems as recognised in conventional healthcare, so we can look at things holistically and in a joined up way.

My core values below explain more on how things work in the consultation.

Step 4. Medicine Plan Created

Following the consultation a suggested personalised herbal medicine and nutrition plan is created based on our conversations and your preferences. We can agree the forms of medicine and/or nutritional information you would like, within a budget you are comfortable with. Please allow a working day for your suggested plan.

Step 5. Medicine Dispensed

Once you’ve read over your plan you can let me know if you are happy to go ahead with any suggestions. Herbal medicines are priced separately, see the link below. Payment is requested before dispensing. Some medicines can be prepared the next working day, but sometimes I will need to order specific herbs, powders or capsules which can add 3-5 days to the timeline. I hold limited stock for quality and sustainability reasons, and each person needs different things. I’ll let you know when you can expect your medicine to be ready for posting or collection.

Step 7. Between Consultations

If you have any questions following the consultation or receiving your medicine then do get in touch by email. I will send you a follow up email after 4-6 weeks.

Step 8. Follow up Consultation

A follow up appointment takes 30-40 minutes and can be in-person or online. It is an opportunity for a supportive check-in to discuss your progress, updates and symptom changes. We can explore concerns or enquiries in more depth. A follow up session can also help tailor and hone your medicine. Formula and dose can be adjusted to your individual response. Timing between an initial consultation and follow up varies, often it’s helpful to have a follow up after one month, but it could be sooner or longer.

Whole plant medicine is prescribed

The medicines I use are based on the principles of whole plant medicine.

Extracts have been made using the whole part of the plant, meaning the plant’s constituent profile has not been synthetically altered or recreated.

Traditional slow extraction methods are favoured and traditional extraction mediums such as water, oil, alcohol, vinegar and honey are used.

Organic or sustainably wild-crafted plants and herbs are used. Many items are grown and harvested in the UK and I aim to support local growers and farmers. Carefully processed herbs, extracts and powders are sourced from reputable suppliers or manufacturers who are able to provide assurance of sustainable cultivation, harvesting and traceability though the supply chain.

Supplements and mushrooms

Supplements, including probiotics, magnesium, vitamins and mushrooms can be purchased separately using Flower & Root’s practitioner discount from a number of reputable online companies who can deliver directly to you.

I can send details of how to purchase these using an online discount code following a initial consultation.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Payment for consultation is requested 24 hours ahead of the appointment time by bank transfer.
