Hello and welcome to Flower & Root. I’m Ros and I offer personalised and comprehensive health consultations, herbal medicine, nutritional support and lifestyle guidance, based on your preferences. I can create individualised medicine plans based on our conversations and your needs, which can be designed to compliment and work alongside conventional care.

Maybe you have a health concern and are considering some new approaches to wellbeing. Possibly you would like to learn more about plant medicine, nutrition and lifestyle approaches, or explore your health more fully. Whichever stage you’re at, you’re really welcome to get in touch! I will do my best to provide support and can offer sign-posting to alternative services which may help you integrate approaches that work best for you.

How a consultation works and FAQs

How does the consultation work?

Here are the main stages and practicalities of the process.

Step 1 – If you’re not yet familiar with a comprehensive, holistic health consultation or plant medicine and what it can help support, there is more information on the about herbal medicine and consultation pages, including some background on the philosophy of approach. Prices are detailed on the consultation page. If you have any questions do get in touch and I will aim to help.

Step 2 – If you would like to learn more you can book a free 10 minute chat. We can discuss your situation and any questions you might have. There is of course no obligation to go forward.

Step 3 – A first consultation can be booked which takes 1 hour and is an opportunity to have conversations about your health, concerns, focus and preferences. On booking a consultation you will receive an optional pre-consultation form which asks some introductory questions about your health, allergies, and current medications, so any prescription can be safely tailored. Alongside this you will receive more information outlining the forms of herbal medicine provided, how these are commonly taken, and pros and cons, so you can consider which options will suit you and your lifestyle best. You can receive an email or text reminder of your appointment closer to the time. Payment for the consultation is requested ahead of the appointment by bank transfer.

Step 4 – Your personalised medicine is created based on our conversations and your preferences. We can agree the forms of herbal medicine you would like, within a budget you are comfortable with. Payment for herbal medicine is requested following the consultation by bank transfer. Your individual blend will be dispensed, and your package posted by the end of the next day. Royal Mail Tracked 48 hours is used, or collection can be arranged during working hours.

Step 5 – If you have any questions following your initial consultation or receiving your medicine you are welcome to get in touch.

Step 6 – Follow-up appointments can be booked which take 20 to 40 minutes. This is an opportunity to discuss your progress and updates, explore concerns or enquiries, and further tailor your medicine and support, based on your present needs. Often this process helps enable a better fit of medicine and guidance. Plant medicine can be likened to food, with people having individual responses. Timing between initial consultation and follow up varies, some people find it helpful to have a follow up after 1 month, or it could be sooner or longer.

Which health conditions do you treat?

Herbal, nutrition and lifestyle medicine can be used to support many health conditions, and to help improve or manage symptoms. Often herbs and food encourage our healing mechanisms incrementally, bit by bit, and so consistency with approach, giving our bodies these nudges over a period of time can help effectiveness. There are some instances where using herbs as sole treatment for a health condition won’t be appropriate or safe. If you’re unsure do get in touch and we can discuss your circumstances. However, plants or nutrition can often be safely selected to support your health, work alongside conventional approaches, or to assist rehabilitation following injury or interventions. You can read more about herbal medicine and commonly treated complaints here.

How will I be treated and spoken to?

I’m straightforward, kind and supportive. I will be polite, friendly, respectful and inclusive. I aim to be open, transparent and non-ambiguous. I work in a person centred way, you can see more about this framework on the consultation page which includes my ethical principles and core values.

What are your qualifications, experience and specialisms?

I am a qualified herbal medicine practitioner, trained to treat medical complaints. I undertook my qualification first through Betonica in Somerset, followed by the The Plant Medicine School based in Ireland, over almost five years. I completed 500 hours of clinical training which involved being part of several busy student clinics supporting people from all walks of life with personalised healthcare plans. There is more information about my qualifications, experience and background on the about me page. Flower & Root’s ethical principles and core values can be found on the consultation page. I am a member of the Irish Register of Herbalists and abide by their code of conduct. I hold full practice insurance and an enhanced DBS check.

How much does it cost?

An initial 10 minute chat is free, a first consultation is £50 and a follow up consultation is £35. For repeat prescriptions without an appointment there is a dispensing fee of £5. A first consultation and two follow up consultations booked together is £100, offering a discount of £20 (available until end of April 2026).

Herbal medicine is priced separately and will be agreed with you at the end of the consultation. As a guide, one month of herbal extract tincture costs £36, whilst one month of tea is £28. Herb and mushroom powders are priced individually. A discount is offered on reputable supplements which can be purchased separately online.

I offer a limited number of low-cost consultations for those who are unwaged. If cost is a barrier then do get in touch.
